From Moscow to Vologda and St.-Petersbourg

Moscow - Sergiev Posad - Pereslavl-Zalessky – Rostov – Yaroslavl –Vologda - St.Petersburg

This itinerary combines part of the Golden Ring with the tour of the places in the Russian North, remarkable for their historical, architectural sites and wonderful nature.

Tour program

1 day. Arrival in Moscow. Meeting at the airport. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner.

2 day. Moscow. Morning sightseeing tour of Moscow encompasses Red Square, St. Basil’s cathedral, the famous GUM store, the Bolshoy Theatre, the Spar-row Hills and Novodevichy Convent.
A tour in the afternoon incorporates the Kremlin with its cathedrals, re-nowned for their fine art and marvelous interiors.
Facultative: concert, ballet or circus performance in the evening.

3 day. Leave Moscow for Sergiev Posad (65 km) to visit the Holy Trinity-St. Ser-gius Laura -“Russian Vatican” – one of the most important monasteries and religious centers of Russia.
Departure for Rostov (130 km) with a stop in Pereslavl-Zalessky to see the wonderful architecture of its historical center. In Rostov – a tour of the Kremlin, the most famous landmark of the town, situated on Nero lake. Exhibition of enamel works (Rostov finift).
Departure for Yaroslavl (57 km). Hotel accommodation.

4 day. Yaroslavl. City tour of Yaroslavl - the oldest city on the Volga, founded by Yaroslav-the-Wise at the beginning of the Х cent. The highlights of this tour are the Monastery of the Savior and the church of Elijah the Prophet.
Facultative: Volga boat trip.

5 day. Departure for Vologda (195 km). Hotel accommodation. Sightseeing tour of Vologda – one of oldest cities in the North of Russia, famous for its architectural complex of the Kremlin with the Cathedral of St.Sophia and several monasteries.

6 day. Whole day tour to Kirillov and Pherapontov monasteries, remarkable for their picturesque location, marvelous architecture and fresco paintings by outstanding Russian masters.
Back to Vologda to take the overnight train to St. Petersburg.

7 day. ST. Petersburg. Morning arrival in St.Petersburg. Transfer to the hotel.
City tour shows us the Admiralty, Bronze Horseman statue, Arts Square, Kazan and St. Isaac Cathedrals, Winter Palace. Visit to Hermitage – world famous arts treasury.
Facultative: canal boat trip / opera- ballet- or concert performance.

8 day. Half-day tour to the suburban royal residences of Peterhof or Tsarskoye selo. Tour of the main palace and the park. Back to St. Petersburg. Time at leisure or optional events.
Facultative: Farewell dinner
