Polar Night
-          Challenging snowmobiling inside the Arctic Circle –
4 days / 3 nights
 
The Polar Night reigns on the Kola Peninsula in December. Daylight (or twilight) lasts only 2-3 hours, so a part of our snowmobile safari will go through the Polar night. But at this time of the year, if we are lucky and the weather is fine, we have chances to see Aurora Borealis! Our way lies through austere beautiful Lovozerye mountain tundra and the ice of the deepest on Kola Umbozero lake. We will pass by reindeer pastures, mountain slopes, snow plains and passes to visit Sami sacred sites.

Itinerary:
Day 1
Early morning arrival by flight in Murmansk*, meeting at the airport and 3-hours bus transfer (184 km) to Revda. Breakfast. Arrival in Revda, a village with a lovely view of two mountain cirques - with rocky walls over 200 m high. Safety and snowmobile driving instructions, getting equipped. Start the snowmobile adventure (100 km) in Lovozero mountain tundra, a high giant horseshoe-shaped plateau (the peak being 1116 m-high Angvundastchorr). Today we will go along mountain slopes, canyons, next to the lakes along the route: Raslaka mountain cirques – Lovozerye foothills – down a mountain branch – Lake Umbozero, a 45 km long lake – Puntcha – Lovozero Lake, the largest lake on Kola Peninsula. Lunch on the way.
Arrival at Medvezhiy ugol tourist center, accommodation in rooms for 2-3-6 persons in wooden houses (facilities outside), Russian banya (sauna), dinner, overnight.
Day 2
 
           
Breakfast. Continue the exploration of the northern land by snowmobile (75 km) along the circle route with spectacular views of ancient sacred sites: Lake Lovozero – Koldun (Witch) Island – Ubey Olenya (Kill-the-Deer) Island – the Worshipping Cross – Lake Lovozero. On the way – a brief visit to reindeer farmers. Lunch on the way. Return to Medvezhiy ugol tourist center, dinner, overnight. Optional sauna (extra cost)
Day 3
Breakfast. Start the last day of our snowmobile adventures (75 km) inside the Arctic Circle, along the scenic route Lake Lovozero – Svetloye (Light) Lake – Lovozerye northern foothills – Revda village. Lunch on the way.
3 hours transfer and check-in at the hotel in Murmansk. Dinner at your own expense, overnight.
Day 4
Breakfast. Transfer to Murmansk airport for the flight to Moscow
* Subject to flight availability, for other options of arrival and departure see the below Note 1 and Note 2
The Tour Operator reserves the right to introduce alterations to the itinerary due to weather conditions or other factors out of control by the Tour operator.
 
* Note 1: In case of arrival by plane via Murmansk on the evening of the day preceeding the itinerary start, the programme changes to start with meeting at the airport of Murmansk, transfer and overnight in Murmansk hotel twin basis for an extra cost of EUR 80 per person
* Note 2: Morning arrival on Day 1 is possible by train* in Olenegorsk from Moscow/St Petersburg, time on train one-way from Moscow is appr 33 hrs. In this case, the itinerary starts with meeting at the railway station and bus transfer (70 km) to Revda on Day 1 and ends with transfer to the railway station and departure by train in the evening on Day 3. The tour price is EUR 150 less.

-          valid for individuals in groups mixed with Russians for standard departure dates, English-speaking guide included
-          valid for own groups of a tour operator / travel agent for standard departure dates (10 and more pax), English-, French-, or German speaking guide included. in case of group size 9 or less pax the price changes, extra charge for a guide-interpreter
 
Note 1: in case of arrival and departure by train from Olenegorsk, the tour price is EUR 150 less per person
Note 2: supplement for those arriving in Murmansk airport in the evening of the day preceeding Day 1 is EUR 80 per person (incl transfer airport-hotel, an extra overnight in a hotel, twin basis).
 
The price includes the following: meeting at the airport in Murmansk, transfers according to the itinerary, “Polaris” snowmobile rental, gas, equipment (suit, safety helmet, neck guard, winter shoe covers, gloves), meals according to the itinerary, accommodation (rooms for 2-3-6 persons), 1 Russian banya in the guest house, accompanying personnel (instructors incl an English-speaking person), insurance.
 
The price does not include: air fare to/from Murmansk, train fare to/from Olenegorsk, spirits, sauna on Day 2, dinner on Day 4.
 
Accommodation on the itinerary:
Medvezhiy ugol tourist center is an accommodation unit 12 person capacity, with rooms for 2-3-6 persons (wooden beds and bedside tables). The houses are wooden (one- and two-storeyed). Stove-heating, electricity. Facilities outside. Russian steam sauna (banya). Meals served in a cafe Sami tent - style.
